The Argon8 sounds good, but the piano sound. The Blofeld is small and sounds great, but can it make evolving backgrounds? Does it have a decent piano sound? Is it too old? If you register the device within the first 90 days of purchase, Korg will extend your warranty for an extra year, and you will also receive free bundled software. The Wavestate sounds great and simulates natural instruments really well, but it's large and complex and seems to lean toward one-finger composition. Register the wavestate Before we dive into using the wavestate, the first thing to do is to register the synth with Korg. Evolving backgrounds are important, but I really don't want one-finger canned accompaniment like on 90s Casios, or any kind of canned drum tracks. What I want is something small that's good for ambient and krautrock-esque jamming with occasional forays into Glass-esque sequencer wackiness. I won't be able to test any of them in person before purchase. I already have a POD HD for guitar and digital 8 track for recording, so I guess the next step is a "real" synth of some kind and a hybrid/DAWless approach.Īfter a month or so of watching, listening, and reading, I've narrowed it down to the Waldorf Blofeld, Korg Wavestate, and Argon8. ![]() They're great, but I'd like to spend less time on a computer. ![]() I started playing keys last year, with a KeyStep 37 and Analog Lab.
